Will for 123 Israel Roberson
Colonial Georgia Will Book AA, 105-108.

Wrightsborough Township
In the Name of God Amen the tenth day of February one thousand / Seven hundred & Seventy three I Israel Roberson of Wightsborough [sic] Township & province of Georgia being very sick & weak in body / but of perfect mind & memory thanks be given unto God there / fore Callind [sic] unto mind the mortality of my body & knowing / that it is appointed for all men once to die do make & ordain / this my last will & Testament that is to Say principally & / first of all I give & recommend my soul into the hands of God / that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be / buried in decent Christian Manor at the Discretion of my / Executor nothing doubting that at the General resurrect / ion I shall receive the Same again by the mighty power / of God and as toucing such worldly Estate wherewith it / hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and / dispose of the Same in the following manner & form -- / Imprimis I give and bequesth to Jonathan Roberson son of Silvinus / Roberson all my Horses and mares excepting one young horse / three years old this spring that is known by the name of the Lacy Mares Colt  [ ] shall not sell nor make / any of them swap Except for the Benefit of his son Jonathan  Item I leave unto Elener Roberson the wife of David Roberson / one horse three years old this Spring known by the name of / Her Lacy mares Colt [ ] Item I give Sarah Roberson the daughter of David Roberson two reasonable Cows and / Calves to be delivered this Spring Item I give to Mary Roberson / the Daughter of David Roberson two Reasonable Cows and / Calves to be delivered this Spring Item Give [sic] to Jonathan / David Andrew and William Roberson the sons of David / Roberson all the rest of my Cattel that is my Clame in / my mark and Brand to be Equally devided amongst them / for the use of their Spooling and Breeding and all the Steers / that is in my Clame I order that they shall be killed and sold / by weight when they are fit for market and the money to be Consecra / ted to the same sons as aforesaid and further I order that all my / hogs shall be kept together till next winter and then them that / are fit for market to be killed and sold by weight and the / Money Consecrated to the use aforesaid and I further order / that Elener Roberson wife of David Roberson shall make use of / the Stock for the suport [sic] of the Family and her self for Establishing and to by Recessorys(?) her life in as Long as there is any of the / Stock is left. [sic] Item I give the plantation I now live on including one / hundred acres to David Roberson Jr. the son of David

Roberson and Money to be raised of my Estate and the Title / to be taken in his name Item I give to David Roberson Senor [sic] / One hundred acres of land Lying on the head of the Beaver / Dam in South Carolina where it is thought there is a Iron / Mine and he may give sell or make away with it all / but one fourth part thereof And I do Constitute make and / Ordain him the said David Roberson Senor [sic] my sole Executor / of this my last will and Testament and I do hereby [ ] / Disallow [ ] and Disanul all and every other former / Testaments wills devises Bequeaths & Executors by me in / any way before named Willed and bequeathed Testifying / and Confirming this and no other to be my last will and / Testament In witness whereof I have herewith set my hand & seal the day and year above Mention --

By Virtue of the Power  & Authority or / Delegated to me by the within Dedamus from / His Excellency Sir James Wright Bar't to me / Josiah Connally appeared before me Joseph / Maddicks one of his Majesties Justices assigned / to hear the Cases of the parish of St. Paul Personally appeared Isaac Cooper one of the Subscribing / Witnesses to the Last Will and Testament of Israel Robeson / of the parish of St Paul planter deceased who being Solemnly / Sworn or affirmed according to the form of his profession / made Oath or declared that he was present and did see the / said Testator Sign Seal publish pronounce & declare  the / said annexed Will and Testament to be and Contain / his Last Will and that he was of possessed & disposing mind / and memory to the best of his knowledge & belief & that he / with Benjamin Cooper & Mary Brown Subscribed their / Names as Witnesses to the said Will at the request and in / the presence of the said Testator & in each others presence --

By His Excell'cy Sir James Wright Baronet / Captain General Governor & Commander in / Chief of his Majestys said province & ordering / of the same --

To Joseph Maddock & James McFarland Esquires / I reposing special trust & confidence in the Fidelity care / & Consideration of you the said Joseph Maddock & James / McFarland have given & Granted & by these presents do give / & Grant unto you or others of you full power & authority / to administer the oath of Probate to the last will of Israel Robeson / of the parish of St Paul deceased herewith subscribed unto -- / Benjamin Cooper Isaac Cooper & Mary Brown or as others of / them being the Subscribing Witnesses to the said last will / & Testament on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God before / you or others of you to be taken as according to the form of / their profession & further that you the said Joseph Maddock / & James McFarland do administer the Oath of Probate / to the said Will hereunto annexed unto David Roberson / Sen'or Executor named in the said last Will & Testament / of the said Israel Robeson deceased on the Holy Evangelists / of Almighty God or according to the form of his profession / before you the said Joseph Maddock & James McFarland / or others of you to be taken which so done you are to notary  / the Same & with all Convenient speed to the Secretarys office / of this province --

Given under my hand & seal at Savannah / the Eighth day of July in the year of our / Lord 1773 & in the thirteenth year of his Majes / tys reign --

I David Robeson do swear or affirm that I believe the affixed document / to be the Last Will of Israel Robeson deceased and that I will / produce to those & Inform the appraisers that I shall appoint / by the  Ordinary all & Singular the Goods & Chattels of the said / Israel Robeson Deceased as shall before the day of  / Making the appraisement Come into my hands & possession & / knowledge and that I will well and truly administer all and / Singular the Goods Chattels rights and Credits of the said deceased / and pay his debts & Legacies as far as his Estate will Extend & / the Law Charge me and that I shall make in true & perfect Quantity / of all the rights & Credits of the Said deceased whether [-----]

On Schedule together with the Appraisement of the said deceaseds / Goods & Chattels Certified under the hands of three or more of the / Appraisers aforesaid with the Secretarys office of this province / within the time presented by the Law So help me God --
