Obituary for 1267182 Charles Alexander Robertson
Many Union county friends were saddened last week to learn of the death of one of the oldest citizens of the county, the late Charles Alexander Robertson, who died Sept. 23, as a result of an injury suffered four weeks prior to his death at Laurel. Funeral services were held in the South Mississippi city with burial taking place there also.
Mr. Robertson was run over by a truck in Laurel suffering a broken leg and crushed foot. After being carried to Laurel Hospital for treatment it became necessary to amputate his injured limb on Sept. 16, and his death followed.
He was a former printer and newspaperman of Union county, having at one time published newspapers at Myrtle, Rienzi, Ripley, Woodland and having at other times been connected with many other newspapers. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and at one time a member of the State Democratic Convention, in the days of nomination by convention.
He is survived by three brothers, L. H. Robertson of New Albany, T. L. Robertson of Myrtle, and B. W. Robertson of Memphis and one sister, Mrs. Addie McElroy of Crystal Springs. His wife preceded him in death by several years.
The Gazette joins with friends in extending their sincere sympathy to members of the family in their loss.
